He was the only club fitter chosen to address the first PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit in Dallas, Texas, and is considered by the profession and the industry to be the prominent pioneer of modern club and putter fitting technique.As a player, Gary knew he had to manipulate the golf club too much to get the performance he desired, and was constantly tinkering with his clubs in an attempt to discover the solution. He embarked on a career path in 1985 that over the next 15 years would take him all over world, conducting scores of seminars for the PGA of America, the LPGA, the Canadian PGA, the European, and Australian PGA. “People do things because they’re smart and not because they’re stupid,” he would say, imploring golf professionals to “take the club business back from the discount houses by exercising your expertise as teachers and equipment experts.” |
